Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

No. The camera is controlled locally via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. The camera's Wi-Fi network has no internet access.

No: no data collection, no telemetry, no third parties.

Pathset is free. Pathset Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that stores your own paths permanently; the purchase can be restored via the App Store or Google Play.

Bluetooth finds the camera and receives the Wi-Fi credentials from it; the actual control then runs over Wi-Fi. iOS asks once about joining the Wi-Fi network, Android about the "Nearby devices" permission and connecting to the device. Everything only needs to be confirmed once.

The zoom is approached under time control; small deviations are technically inherent and normal.

The Osmo Pocket can only zoom at fixed speeds; the slowest takes about 7 s (4P) or 10 s (Pocket 4) for 1× → 4×. If the segment is longer, Pathset places the zoom within it: zooming in at the end, zooming out at the start. For a zoom across the whole segment, choose a travel time about as long as the zoom.

Yes. Every waypoint can carry a roll angle (roughly 45° in each direction); the horizon then tilts as the camera moves. Centring returns it to level. Supported on Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo Pocket 4 and Osmo Pocket 4P.

Not yet. The Luna gimbal can roll mechanically (it even rolls 90° into its parking position), but the camera’s software currently offers no control for it. Pathset therefore hides the roll field for the Luna; once the software allows it, Pathset can use it.

When centring, the Luna settles on whichever side is nearer, front or back (also with the camera's own joystick). To make sure a move starts from the front, Pathset first turns to the left stop and from there to the front. This takes a few seconds.

Important: Luna timelapse is currently experimental — slow pans can show small jolts that Pathset cannot prevent (more about this). If whole photos are missing, it is usually the live view: the camera feeds the live view from the same exposures it stores. With long exposure times (low light, a short interval such as 0.5 s) photos then get lost. Set "Live view" in the recording card to "off – every frame kept" (the 180° rule does this automatically). With live view on, you can watch exposure and framing during the recording instead.

Usually it's the zoom: large zoom ranges take the most time. Allow more travel time or spread the zoom across several segments.

Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo Pocket 4, Osmo Pocket 4P and the Insta360 Luna Ultra and Luna Pro (video only there; the Pro's firmware does not currently offer timelapse and TimeShift).

On iOS in the photo library, on Android in the gallery in the "Movies/Pathset" folder (via "Save" in the media library).

iOS and Android interrupt the connection to the camera as soon as the app goes to the background or the screen locks. Pathset keeps the screen on during a move. Without a running move, Pathset reconnects by itself when you return.

While the iPhone is connected to the camera's Wi-Fi, it shares the radio with AirDrop. First save the video to your Photos from the media library, then disconnect the camera in Pathset and share it via AirDrop from the Photos app. Sharing via messengers or social networks also works while connected, over mobile data.

Hold the camera's record button for about 20 seconds. This restarts the camera (the manufacturer's recommendation). Then reconnect in Pathset. This applies to the Osmo Pocket 3, 4 and 4P; it is not intended for the Insta360 Luna Ultra and Pro.
