Getting started and connecting

Pair the camera, join its Wi-Fi, see the live view: how to get started with Lapset. Plus the home screen with tiles, bottom bar and menu.

On first launch, Lapset shows "Welcome to Lapset" with three steps: switch on the camera, tap "Connect", confirm the PIN on the camera display the first time. You can find this help later under ⋯ → "Getting started".

Connecting the camera

Lapset home screen "Timelapse Moves" with your own move "Sunset at the lighthouse" and the template tiles, below them the note "Not connected. Turn on the camera and tap Connect." and the bottom bar with Connect, New, Start, Media and Arrange.
Before connecting: your own move at the top, the templates below; "Connect" at the bottom left.
  1. Switch on the camera and keep it within range. Tap "Connect" (bottom bar, left).
  2. On first launch, the phone asks for the required permissions:
    • iOS: allow the prompts for Bluetooth and "Local Network".
    • Android: allow the "Nearby devices" (Bluetooth) permission.
  3. The first time: the camera shows a PIN on its display and asks for confirmation. Confirm there; the app shows "Confirm on the camera" with the note "The camera shows PIN … Please confirm on its display." From then on the camera knows the app and further connections run without a PIN.
  4. Lapset fetches the Wi-Fi credentials via Bluetooth and switches to the camera network by itself. Confirm joining the camera's Wi-Fi once in the system prompt (iOS) or the Android dialog.
  5. The status runs through: "Pairing …" → "Getting credentials …" → "Connecting to the camera network …" → "Almost done …" → "Connected to OsmoPocket… Select a move and tap Start." This typically takes 15 to 30 seconds.

Once connected, the camera's live view appears below the tiles; you can switch it off via ⋯ → "Live view". "Disconnect" ends the session.

Lapset home screen after connecting: your own tile "Sunset at the lighthouse" is selected with a blue frame, below it the live view of a lighthouse at sunset and the bottom bar with Disconnect, New, Start, Media and Arrange.
Connected: the selected move with the camera's live view below.

About the camera network: as long as Lapset is connected, the phone is on the camera's Wi-Fi, which has no internet access. That is normal.

Accidentally denied a permission? On iPhone you can re-enable Bluetooth and "Local Network" under Settings › Lapset, on Android the Bluetooth permission under Settings › Apps › Lapset › Permissions.

The home screen

Every tile is a move: your own at the top, the templates below. A tile shows, for example, "2 points · 2 s · 20:00 min → 20 s video": points, interval and recording time, plus the length of the finished video at the chosen frame rate.

  • Tap once to select a move: the tile gets a blue frame, the status line shows its values.
  • Tap again to open the editor (see Planning a move).
